Controlling the lighting at restaurant Demo used to be a sport. Because the dimmers were at the back and the lights in the hall, employees had to run between the two rooms just to control the lighting. So when the time for renovation came, Demo opted for Houm lighting control.
- We used to have switches all over the place. Now we can adjust all the lights from one place and we don't need to run back and forth. Customers don't enjoy constant dabbling with lights, says manager Timo Hannula. The restaurants lighting changes a lot during the night. During the evening there's a need for more luminosity, but as the night progresses a dim lighting creates a nice mood.
-The tables have candles, and we highlight those with lighting. To get the best effect out of the candles we need to be able to control the luminocity easily.
Manager Hannula emphasizes that the lighting's effect on mood is big. They also had invested a lot on the interior design, so highlighting that was important.
Demo's staff use the system from computer, cellphones and a switch. They've also got an automatic schedule for the lights.
Demo's interior design was designed and produced by Oskari Oranen from Oranen & Tukrlin. He thought the Houm system was revolutionary in how easy it is to use.
- Installation was exceptionally quick and painless, and I paid a fraction of what I used to pay for lighting control. The lighting system now reflects the high level of sophistication found in Demo's food.
Oranen was also pleasantly suprised by the ease of use of Houm.
- I learnt how to use the system on my own iPhone in six minutes without any guidance. It felt awesome!
Manager Hannula agrees.
- Using this is so easy it makes one wonder how we survived without it
